Pulmonologist

Pulmonologists play an important role in the effective health management of many patients who have lung conditions. They are knowledgeable and skilled in determining the cause of symptoms and the corresponding treatment appropriate for lung-related health issues.

While collaborating with the pulmonologist, U.S. Home Health Care, Inc. will provide care services for patients who have been diagnosed with:

  • Alpha, antitrypsin deficiency
  • Asthma Lung
  • Bronchitis
  • Cancer
  • Chronic emphysema
  • Congestive heart Failure
  • COPD
  • Pleural effusion
  • Pneumonia
  • Primary and secondary pulmonary hypertension
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Tuberculosis

In the patient’s home health care plan, the following services may be included:

  • Observation and Assessment
  • Management and Evaluation
  • Assess general pulmonary status
  • Disease Education
    • Teach patient or caregiver new medication regimen
    • Teach patient or caregiver to identify and avoid specific factors that precipitate an exacerbation
    • Teach regarding safe oxygen utilization
    • Teach proper use of inhalers
    • Teach conservation of energy
  • Evaluate lung sounds, assess amount, site(s) of wheezing, rhonci, or lung sound changes
  • Assess nutritional status, hydration status, s/s CHF, vital signs
  • Obtain sputum culture as ordered
  • Venipuncture as ordered
  • Monitor respiratory rate and pattern
  • Evaluate for presence or absence of cough, frequency, character, and sputum production
  • Breathing exercises
  • Notify MD of significant changes
